SOTU Pep Rally

I was never big on high school pep rallys, designed to get people riled up for the big game, always big talk, most of it useless and unfounded, with promises of candy for everyone once the game is played. If I recall correctly, even the big jocks came down from the fervor after a good night's sleep. Of course, it helped to have a teacher in the background reminding everyone that the term paper was due next week. Thankfully for us, the big game has no date yet. The teachers need to make themselves visible.
As it stands, we only see a psychotic principal in the only visible leadership position and a few kids on the sidelines, the kids with the history books, shaking their heads in sadness, waiting for everyone to sleep on it. A few of the jocks do recognize the pep rally for what it is, yet they can't help but get caught up in the madness and excitement of it all. They are the ones who value good sportmanship and remember not to wear the jock straps too tight. posted by Cyndy | link | | |
